Volunteer Opportunities
CORPORATE
SMALL BUSINESS
SCHOOLS
INDIVIDUALS
COMMUNITY GROUPS
UWFC relies on volunteers to carry out its plan of work. Many opportunities exist for the individual who wants to give back to his/her community. Some examples include but are not limited to the following:
Day of Caring (Girls Scouts, above): Each year volunteers contribute time and effort providing needed services for citizens who are unable to do for themselves some simple, one-day projects such as: building handicap ramps, painting, yard work, small repairs, etc. Projects are assigned on a referral from the Department of Aging, the Department of Social Services, or any citizen can recommend a project. Projects are usually completed in four to eight hours. This special event is held annually in May, but some volunteers contribute time throughout the year on an as-needed basis. Visit the Events section for more details.
Community Impact (CI) Grant Allocations Panel: Volunteers serve on panels to evaluate grant applications. After the orientation/training session (one hour) volunteers individually review assigned grant applications and then meet as a group on a given date to hear presentations from grant applicants (three to four hours). CI Review Panel recommendations are then brought to the United Way Board of Directors for a final funding decision.

Campaign (FRMC and Louisburg College volunteers at the 2010 Spelling Bee): Volunteers are needed each year to assist in raising funds for the local campaign. The amount of time can vary, but most volunteers commit several hours weekly during the campaign timeframe.
Call the United Way office if you are interested in lending a hand in one or more of the volunteer areas listed above. Giving your time and talents will ADVANCE THE COMMON GOOD throughout Franklin County.
We aoso need volunteers to help with our spring and fall food frives to pick up food and to help sort.
Call 919-496-0937 to volunteer.
