Day of Caring
(Click here for overview flyer) Flyer may take a few moments to download.
Day of Caring is a community-wide day of service (annual event in May each year) connects caring individuals with short-term projects. It demonstrates how volunteers lending a hand can make a difference in our community.
Day of Caring projects are performed for non-profit organizations or county residents who would otherwise have no means of getting the project completed. In previous years, Day of Caring projects included building wheelchair ramps, yard work and landscaping, painting, minor home repairs, cleaning and organizing.
Anyone can recommend a project for the Day of Caring. The requirements for each project are: it must benefit Franklin County residents or non-profit agencies and it can be completed in one day. The United Way urges civic organizations, church groups and businesses to consider providing the person-power that makes the Day of Caring a success. This community service event epitomizes...when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all.
To have a project considered for inclusion in Day of Caring, an application must be submitted to the United Way. Applications for the 2009 Day of Caring will be available on or about March 1, 2009.
